Deep in the heart

Well, it's been over two weeks since my last vacation — so you know what that means!

Time for another trip!

This time, it'll be God's country: Texas.

Since I grew up in San Antonio, and my wife grew up in Austin, Texas is very much still home to us.

And we're going back!

Don't worry — it's not forever.

If you've spent any time in Texas, you know it's approximately as hot as the surface of the sun.

And I hate heat.

So this trip will be a short (1 week) trip, filled with plenty of pool time and the necessary pool-side beverages: margaritas for everyone else, water with a lime in it for me ;-)

We'll drive down, and I plan on writing a whole book.

Yes, you read that correctly.

I'm going to write a whole book. In a single day of driving.

I'll be dictating while I drive, which has been a common practice for me for a few years now.

I've done it before, and even if I fall short of a full-length novel, it's still an insane amount of output for a single day's work.

Right now, the plan is to start (and finish!) the second in the Josh Lane series.

(If you haven't read The Contestant, I think it's one of the best books I've ever written.)

I just finished The Solomon Key, the first in a new series I'm calling Earth Uncovered, and I'm considering writing the second of those books on the way back from Texas.

But I have to ask: Have you read it yet?
