Due to supply chain issues and the rise in material costs, our print partner has informed us that they will be increasing our costs. Effective October 1, 2022, the cost of author copies via D2D Print will increase.
At Draft2Digital, we do our best to keep costs low for our authors, but industry shifts can occasionally necessitate changes such as this. We will always do our best to mitigate these expenses, when possible. We appreciate your understanding!
The calculator includes a section designed to help you get an idea of how the price change will affect your royalties, and help you assess whether you’ll want to adjust any of your print book prices.*
*Draft2Digital will not allow a book to sell below cost, which would mean you’d owe money for every sale you make. If your book price needs adjusting due to rate changes, Draft2Digital will automatically adjust the cost to keep you from selling at a loss. So you won’t have to worry too much that these changes will have that sort of negative impact. We’ve got your back! But we highly recommend you adjust your prices for yourself, so that there are no surprises.
Though this was an unavoidable change, there is good news: The more copies Draft2Digital continues to sell through Print on Demand, the more bargaining power we have to negotiate better rates on your behalf.
You should be aware that pricing for print does change and adjust from time to time as the base costs of industry materials, labor, and global safety measures fluctuate. Because of these fluctuations, the cost of producing print books has increased significantly since we launched the D2D Print Beta. These are elements outside our control, but we will always do everything we can to mitigate their impact.
Thank you for being a valuable part of our D2D Print Beta. Draft2Digital is always looking for ways to improve everything we do, to save you time so you can get back to doing the parts you love best—writing your books!
